PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airlines is offering flights for almost a song for the next three months in conjunction with the 50th Merdeka celebrations.

Flights within Peninsular Malaysia are going from RM1. Flights to five Asean destinations are available for as little as RM10.

Tickets on the "Let's Fly Malaysia" campaign from tomorrow to Sept 19 are only available through online booking on MAS' website.

The Asean flights are from Kuala Lumpur, Sabah and Sarawak to Bangkok, Phuket, Cebu, Jakarta and Phnom Penh.

MAS chairman Datuk Munir Majid said the airline would be offering a million seats that were expected to generate RM30 million in sales.

"We will give Malaysians something to look forward to for three months to thank them for 60 years of support," he said after the airline's annual meeting here yesterday.

The offer involves 100 destinations with 50 travel packages.

The campaign will kick off with an online "50-hour Open House" promotion between tomorrow and Friday involving 200,000 seats from RM1.

All fares exclude airport taxes, fuel surcharge and other fees and are applicable for one-way travel between Sept 3 and 30.

In addition to the online promotion, there will be MAS Supersavers programme and "Global Sale" closer to Aug 31.
